989 FXUS63 KICT 222328 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 528 PM CST Sat Feb 22 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Much warmer temperatures on the way with slightly cooler readings for Wednesday. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 210 PM CST Sat Feb 22 2025 Water vapor imagery currently shows two small upper impulses. One over Southern NM and another tracking across the Tennessee Valley. At the surface, high pressure is situated across the Lower Mississippi Valley with westerly flow over the Central and Southern Plains. Upper impulse over the Desert Southwest will track across TX tonight into Sun with northwest flow aloft in place over the Northern/Central Plains. Models continue to show good downslope conditions on Sun which will commence a nice warm-up. However, locations that still have some snow cover will see highs on Sun several degrees cooler. There`s a good chance that by late afternoon Sunday, there will not be any snow around. Much of the same is expected for Monday with great downslope conditions and above normal highs. All areas are expected to see highs in the 60s for both Monday and Tuesday. Normal highs for this time of year are around 50 degrees. There is good model agreement that a fast moving shortwave will track out of the Northern Rockies and across the Central Plains Tue night. This will push a weak cold front through the region and will knock highs down around 10 degrees from where they will be Tue, but still above normal. We will then get right back into northwest flow aloft to finish out the work week with highs back into the 60s. && .AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z MONDAY/... Southerly winds at 5-10 kt will become west and northwesterly during the late morning and early afternoon hours. && .ICT WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ DISCUSSION...RBL AVIATION...BRF
