Spot Forecast for Skyline Wildlife Management Area...Alabama Forestry Commission
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
825 PM CST Sat Feb 22 2025

Forecast is based on ignition time of 1000 CST on February 23. If
conditions become unrepresentative, contact the National Weather
Service.

.DISCUSSION...

Surface high pressure will remain centered across the TN Valley
overnight, with clear skies, calm winds and dry conditions
expected in the vicinity of the prescribed burn site. Conditions
will be come favorable for the development of patchy freezing fog
toward sunrise as temperatures fall into the mid 20s, but this
should mainly occur in sheltered valleys and near large bodies of
water. By late tomorrow morning, an increase in mid/high-level
clouds is anticipated as a storm system begins to shift
northeastward across the northwestern Gulf. Although some spotty,
very light rain may enter the southwestern portion of north AL
late Sunday afternoon (and continue through Sunday evening),
chances for wetting rainfall remain very low at this point. Due to
very light transport winds, smoke dispersion will be poor
tomorrow afternoon (even as mixing heights rise into the 2500-3000
ft range).
