Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
408 AM CDT Mon Jun 8 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A widespread coverage of moderate-heavy showers and thunderstorms
is anticipated across the region both today and tomorrow (with a
lower coverage tonight), as a light southerly flow in the low-
levels will maintain a warm and very moist airmass that will
destabilize quickly with diurnal warming. Smoke dispersion indices
will range from generally poor to generally good today, with
mixing heights of 2500-4000 ft and transport winds in the 5-15 MPH
range. Dispersion will improve for all areas tomorrow. In the
extended portion of the forecast, it appears as if rain chances
will fall back into the 20-40% range (and mainly focused during
the afternoon/evening) from Wednesday through Sunday. However, a
potentially greater coverage could occur on both Friday and
Sunday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy/locally dense fog
may develop each morning through Wednesday (especially in
locations that receive heavy rainfall).

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
