Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
412 AM CDT Sun Aug 31 2025

.DISCUSSION...

20 foot winds will be light and variable or around 5 mph at the
most today. Transport winds will be a tad stronger from the
northeast between 5 and 10 mph. Mixing heights will remain high
and climb to over 7000 feet in the afternoon. Dispersion will be a
bit better in portions of NW Alabama. Minimum afternoon relative
humidity values should only drop to between 35 and 40 percent in
most areas.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms return to the
forecast on Monday afternoon. 20 foot winds become more
southeasterly around 5 mph or less. Transport winds will remain
between 5 and 10 mph, but become southerly. Mixing heights in the
afternoon will not be quite as high, but still climb well above
6000 feet. Dispersion will be slightly better with a bit more wind
on Monday. Low level moisture and minimum relative humidity
values will increase on Monday, only dropping to around 50 percent
in the afternoon.

Fog potential over the next few days: Some patchy fog will be
possible towards daybreak today and Monday night.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None are expected due to light
winds and high afternoon relative humidity values.
