.DISCUSSION...

Thunderstorms (which impacted much of northern AL yesterday
evening) are now dissipating to the southeast of the local area,
with a separate complex of convection across northern MS expected
to bypass our region to the southwest. Although a few showers and
perhaps a thunderstorm or two may develop in the higher terrain of
northeast AL later this afternoon, northerly winds in the wake of
a weak cold front will advect a slightly cooler/drier airmass
into the northern part of the state (confining widespread
thunderstorm development to central AL and points southward). The
slightly cooler/drier airmass is expected to remain in place
through Saturday. Smoke dispersion will be in the generally good
range today, but will improve to good tomorrow as mixing heights
rise back into the 6000-7000 ft range.

Fog potential over the next few days: Conditions will be
favorable for the development of patchy, locally dense fog each of
the next few mornings.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
