652 FNUS54 KHUN 021926 FWFHUN Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama National Weather Service Huntsville AL 226 PM CDT Sat Aug 2 2025 .DISCUSSION... Showers and a few thunderstorms will continue this afternoon in the vicinity of a subtle convergence axis across northeast AL. However, as a backdoor cold front begins to move westward into the region overnight, we expect a fairly widespread coverage of low clouds and light drizzle/showers to develop across the northeastern portion of the forecast area. This regime will spread westward on Sunday, with development of a few thunderstorms possible along the front as it enters northwest AL during the afternoon. Although a drier low-level airmass will be advected into the region on Sunday night and Monday, mostly cloudy skies are expected both periods along with a very low (10-30%) chance for light rain at any time. Smoke dispersion indices will range from fair-generally good both Sunday and Monday, with mixing heights of 3000-4000 ft and transport winds of 10-20 MPH. The extended outlook calls for a continuation of the wet weather pattern on Tuesday/Wednesday, with progressively warmer/drier conditions expected from Thursday-Saturday. Fog potential over the next few days: Fog may develop early Sunday morning (mixed with light rain and low clouds). A similar setup could occur once again Tuesday morning. Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
