.DISCUSSION...

A strong upper-level ridge of high pressure (currently located
near the coast of SC) will gradually expand westward into the TN
Valley from today-Sunday. Although this will result in a lower
coverage of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, a few convective
cells will still be possible in regions of higher terrain both
afternoons. Smoke dispersion index values will be generally good-
good both today and tomorrow, with afternoon mixing heights of
5000-6000 ft and transport winds from the SW-W at 10-15 MPH. As
for the extended outlook, we still expect a dangerous heat wave to
evolve across the region early next week, with the hottest temps
of the week expected to occur on Monday/Tuesday. Although coverage
will be low, a few thunderstorms will be possible both
afternoons. Chances for showers and storms will begin to increase
on Wednesday, with weather conditions toward the end of the week
transitioning from hot to wet and slightly cooler.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy fog will be possible
each of the next few mornings, with sheltered valleys and
locations that receive wetting rainfall the most likely to
experience visibility reductions.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
