.DISCUSSION...
Strong upper level high pressure over the region, along with
surface high pressure situated off of the east coast, will control
the weather across Northern Alabama into next week. This setup
will produce very warm to hot conditions across the region. After
low temperatures cooling only into the mid 70s (with some upper
70s), high temperatures this afternoon will soar into the
mid/upper 90s. With dewpoints in the low/mid 70s, heat index
values will soar into the upper 90s to over 105 degrees. Thus, a
Heat Advisory will continue across the area. High temperatures
next week could soar to and above 100 degrees early next week,
with heat indexes rising to and above 110 degrees.
With somewhat deeper residual moisture more to the east, isolated
to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms could develop
across north central and northeast Alabama this afternoon and
early evening. Storms that form could produce strong outflow wind
gusts and heavy downpours. Dry weather is expected this weekend.
Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy late night could
develop in and near sheltered valley locations.
Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Not forecast at this time.
