.DISCUSSION...
A thick layer of high clouds will remain in place across northern
AL today, as southwest flow aloft will persist to the east of a
strengthening storm system over the central Plains. Regardless,
there will be some opportunity for deep boundary layer mixing this
afternoon as temps rise into the l-m 80s, and this will likely
yield MinRH values in the 35-45% range. Smoke dispersion will be
in the good range, with mixing heights between 7000-7500 ft and
southerly transport winds of 15-25 MPH. Low clouds will gradually
return to the region overnight, ahead of a weak cold front and
related band of showers and thunderstorms. As the front drifts
slowly southeastward across our region on Monday, chances for
wetting rain will be rather high and smoke dispersion indices will
fall due to lower mixing heights.
Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy mist/fog will be
possible in a few locations early this morning.
Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
