Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
226 PM CDT Wed May 14 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A light-moderate SSW flow regime will remain in place across the
TN Valley through the first half of the weekend, maintaining a
warm/humid airmass. Although a few showers and thunderstorms will
be possible later this afternoon, we expect conditions to remain
dry for much of the period from Thursday-Friday. However, during
the timeframe from late Friday night-Saturday morning, an
organized cluster of strong-severe thunderstorms will spread
southeastward through the region, bringing high probabilities for
both wetting rainfall and strong winds/large hail. After a brief
period of drier conditions on Saturday, scattered showers and
thunderstorms will return to the region from Sunday-Tuesday. Smoke
dispersion indices will be in the good range both Thursday and
Friday, with mixing heights of 3500-4500 ft and transport winds of
20-25 MPH.

Fog potential over the next few days: Conditions will be
favorable for the development of patchy mist/fog in wind-sheltered
valleys both tonight and Thursday night.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
