The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northwestern Colbert County in northwestern Alabama...
Central Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama...
* Until 545 PM CDT.
* At 246 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across western and central portions of Colbert and
Lauderdale Counties. This is mainly along a corridor from Cherokee
west to the state line, and to areas north and east to Underwood
Petersville and Florence areas. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Florence, Cherokee, Underwood-Petersville, Oakland, Barton,
Threet, Red Rock, Mt Hester, Margerum, Zip City, Malone and
Allsboro.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
