.DISCUSSION...
Unseasonably warm temperatures, especially at night, are
expected for central California in the late week period as
high pressure builds in across the region. The system will
also bring an influx of monsoonal moisture from the southwest,
resulting in a chance for showers and thunderstorms across the
Sierra Nevada each afternoon beginning Friday which could also
spread into the desert areas. The warmer temperatures will
bring about drier conditions across the region. Elevated fire
weather concerns are projected for the Frazier Park, Grapevine,
and Fort Tejon areas as stronger winds will combine with the
aforementioned conditions. In addition, mixing heights are
expected over 10000 feet in this area, leading to a risk for
plume-dominated wildfire potential if development occurs.
Due to these factors, the previous Fire Weather Watch has
been upgraded to a Red Flag Warning for the areas listed
valid through Saturday evening.
