.DISCUSSION...
Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected for central
California extending into the weekend as high pressure builds
in across the region. The system will also bring an influx of
monsoonal moisture from the southwest, resulting in a chance
for showers and thunderstorms across the Sierra Nevada each
afternoon beginning today which could also spread into the
desert areas. Dry thunderstorms are possible this afternoon due
to low relative humidity ahead of the surge of moisture. The
warmer temperatures will bring about drier conditions across
the region. Elevated fire weather concerns are projected for
the Frazier Park, Grapevine, and Fort Tejon areas as stronger
winds will combine with the aforementioned conditions. In
addition, mixing heights are expected over 10000 feet in this
area, leading to a risk for plume-dominated wildfire potential
if development occurs. Due to these factors, a Red Flag Warning
remains in effect for the southern Kern mountains valid through
Saturday evening.
