.DISCUSSION...
A storm system is currently coming through the region and will
produce precipitation for much of it. Snow levels are expected
to begin around 9500 feet and come down to around 9000 feet as
the system moves through. There is a Flood Watch out for the
Sierra foothills and the lower Sierra Nevada due to expected
excessive rainfall over the course of this storm and a Winter
Storm Warning for the elevations above the snow levels due to
the heavy snow forecasted. Wind Advisories are also in effect
for the Mojave Desert and the Slopes, as well as along the West
Side Hills. There is also a chance for thunderstorms this
afternoon. On Friday and Saturday, the rain will shift and come
up from the south into the Kern County region and into the
southern Valley and Sierra Nevada. Precipitation will likely
continue until Monday, and may clear out by Tuesday evening.
