.DISCUSSION...
Clear conditions are in store for the next few days, with the
only cloud cover reserved for the upper levels of the atmosphere.
High pressure building over the region from the east will cause a
warming trend to set up, raising temperatures up to 10 degrees
above season averages on Thursday. Dew points holding stationary
will result in a drop in relative humidities outside the Sierra
Nevada. In the lower elevations, minRH values are expected between
20 and 25 percent, with desert values approaching 10 to 15
percent towards the end of this week. Sierra values will fall
today before improving midweek as mid-to-upper level moisture
tracks across the region. Rainfall chances are on the downtrend in
association with this moisture, with only the areas around Mount
Whitney and Mount Pinos having significant chances for
precipitation. Both locations have a 40 to 50 percent probability
for measurable rainfall (>0.01"), and 30 to 40 percent for a
wetting rain (>0.10") on Thursday; all other locations have less
than a 10 percent probability for measurable rainfall. Gusty
conditions remain probable for the Mojave Desert Slopes towards
the end of the week; projections have a 60 to 70 percent
probability for 45 mph maximum gusts on Friday.
