299 FXUS66 KHNX 021716 AFDHNX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Hanford CA 1016 AM PDT Sat Aug 2 2025 && .KEY MESSAGES... 1. Near average temperatures are expected across much of the region into the weekend. There is a 15 to 30 percent chance to exceed 100 degrees in the San Joaquin Valley today and Saturday. 2. Increased fire risk this weekend with widespread minimum relative humidity between 15 and 25 percent for the non-desert areas. Min RH expected less than 10 percent in the Mojave Desert with gusty winds in the afternoon to evening. 3. Slight cooling trend early next week before returning above triple digits. 10 to 20 percent chance for highs of at least 105 degrees in the southern portion of the San Joaquin Valley next Thursday and Friday. && .DISCUSSION... Average temperatures continue today and most of tomorrow as the ridge continues to dominate in our area. There is a 15 to 30 percent chance of triple digits with this pattern through tomorrow. Monday brings a change with slightly cooler temperatures and increased wind gusts as a trough slides across the Northwest. Temperatures begin to rebound Tuesday and triple digits return Wednesday into next weekend. There is a 10 to 20 percent chance of high temps of at least 105 on Thursday and Friday. On the Fire weather side, the Mojave slopes and desert have a minor risk for the next few days with minimum humidities below 10 percent and strong wind gusts. The slopes have a 65 to 95 percent chance over the next week of 45 mph gusts and the main desert has a 15 to 50 percent chance of 35 mph gusts over the next several days. In the Valley, humidities will drop to between 15 and 25 percent but the wind gusts will increase over the weekend before dropping after the trough passes. && .AVIATION... 18Z Update: VFR conditions are expected in the San Joaquin Valley for the next 24 hours. && .AIR QUALITY ISSUES...
