.DISCUSSION...
Foggy conditions greet us this morning as a ridge of high
pressure sits over the area. Temperatures warm up this afternoon
compared to yesterday. There is a 15 to 25 percent chance of a
high of at least 80 for most of the Valley but Bakersfield has a
60 percent chance of at least 80 degrees.

The ridge slides away on a Tuesday as the next system makes it
way towards California by Wednesday. This latest system brings
a 60 to 70 percent chance of a tenth of an inch of rain in
Merced and Mariposa counties but a 10 to 25 percent chance of a
tenth of rain or more for the rest of the Valley on Wednesday.

Snow levels with this system are expected at 7500-8000`, but
with the moisture with it focusing on the northern portion of
our CWA, snowfall probilities are at their greatest in and
around Yosemite National Park. There is a 70 to 90 percent
probability for 1 inch or more of snowfall over 24 hours ending
Thursday morning for these areas, but falling to 30 to 40
percent in the Sierra Nevada in Fresno County.

Winds also will pick up in the higher elevations of the Sierra
Nevada and in eastern Kern County. There is a 60 to 80 percent
chance of wind gusts of at least 40 mph along the Mojave Slopes
and Highway 14 on Wednesday into Thursday morning and a 50 to 60
percent chance of 40 mph gusts on Wednesday in the higher
elevations of the Sierra Nevada above 8,000 feet.

Winds decrease on Thursday along with temperatures remaining
persistently in the low 70s with dry conditions into the
weekend. Sunday brings a warmup with a 5 to 35 percent chance
of highs rebounding to at least 80 degrees.
