.DISCUSSION...
Temperatures today are expected to be slightly warmer than yesterday
with the trough that has been influencing our weather weakening
slightly. Expect closer to average temperatures today with a 60-75%
chance of temperatures above 90 degrees today in the Central Valley.
A digging trough will move onto the California coast and influence
our weather in the mid to late work week after today. Temperatures
will therefore likely cool after today, with comfortable below
average conditions through the end of the work week. The probability
of temperatures above 90 degrees will be below 40% in the Central
Valley from Wednesday through Friday, with Wednesday likely being
the warmest of these days. Low temperatures will likely consistently
remain in the upper-50s to low-60s in this timeframe.

As the trough moves in, it will bring some isolated gusty (up to 35
mph) conditions towards the northern portion of the CWA.
As such, a Lake Wind Advisory will be in effect Tuesday evening
through late Tuesday night. The usual problem spots too, will be
gusty, but not exceeding advisory levels. The probability of wind
gusts exceeding 30 mph will be 65-80% along the typical problem spot
regions, such as the Mojave Desert and in the far northwestern
portion of our CWA where the Lake Wind Advisory has been issued.

To round out this week and into early next week, a weak ridge is
expected to influence our region. The weekend will be a bit warmer,
but nothing too hot for the the end of September. Saturday,
temperatures will stay below 95 degrees, as there`s a 10-20% chance
for the valley to exceed that threshold, save for a few spots along
the I-5 and up near Los Banos/San Luis Reservoir. Sunday, however,
looks to be the warmest day. There`s a 25-40% chance for
temperatures to exceed 95 degrees on Sunday. By Monday of next week
there is a 15-30% chance of temperatures exceeding 95 degrees in the
Central Valley, with temperatures likely consistently remaining in
the low to mid 90s from the weekend into early next week. Even
though that`s a bit warmer than much of this week, the Climate
Prediction Center has most of California in a near normal for
temperatures in their 6-10 day outlook and again in their 8-10 day
outlook.
