Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion

Moderate to locally breezy trades in drier flow prevail this
weekend as moderate high pressure bridges/settles to the north of
the state. Showers should be limited for windward and mauka areas
as an upper ridge drifting over the eastern islands struggles to
build westward. Guidance generally agrees that an early next week
upper trough axis position could develop just to the northwest of
the islands, acting to veer island trades and allow some increase
in moisture that could increase shower coverage, but the deepest
moisutre plume should hold offshore. At the surface, the pressure
gradient is forecast to weaken, lessening island flow for much of
next week. Trades may potentially return heading into next
weekend as high pressure rebuilds to the north of the state.
