Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion

Valid 00Z Tue 18 Aug 2026 - 00Z Tue 25 Aug 2026

Tropical cyclone Lala continues to move away from the islands,
with impacts diminishing. In its wake a more normal trade pattern
will take over, with the typical windward shower activity.
Moisture will remain a bit elevated in the wake of Lala, so trade
showers could be slightly enhanced compared to average.

NHC is tracking another tropical wave well southeast of the
islands, with a 50% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone
as of early Monday. This wave will track westward, with most
model and ensemble solutions keeping it south of the islands this
weekend into early next week. Trends will continue to be
monitored over the coming days, with some increase in moisture
and rainfall a possibility as the system tracks to the south.
