Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion

Valid 00Z Thu Feb 06 2025 - 00Z Thu Feb 13 2025

A weak ridge of high pressure at the surface will reduce easterly
wind speeds Wednesday-Thursday, allowing some land/sea breezes to
set up. Available moisture in the vicinity of the islands and a
trough aloft could provide support for light to moderate showers,
with the greatest coverage over Maui and the Big Island. Easterly
trades should redevelop by Friday into the weekend and persist
into early next week. This will favor possible showers across
windward and mauka areas, but likely limited due to upper ridging
and lack of moisture. Moisture may increase slightly at times
Monday-Wednesday but this does not look too dramatic. Winds may
veer in the western islands by Tuesday or Wednesday in response to
a front or two northwest of the state.
