Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
352 AM EDT Sat May 17 2025

Valid 00Z Sun 18 May 2025 - 00Z Sun 25 May 2025

High pressure at the surface and aloft will be centered northeast
of Hawaii over the next few days, promoting moderate to breezy
easterly trade winds over the state. Weak midlevel lows could lead
to some instability while some waves of moisture move through.
Thus showers are likely and should favor windward and mauka areas.
By around Tuesday, moisture may temporarily lessen a bit, but by
the second half of next week, moisture is forecast to increase
once again while a broader upper trough develops over Hawaii.
Another midlatitude surface high will bring continued easterlies
and thus a continued wet trade wind pattern will set up generally
through next week.
