Moderate trades prevail this weekend as high pressure sits to the
north of the state in a pattern with limited moisture to fuel
showers over windward and mauka areas with an upper ridge settled
over the eastern islands. Guidance agrees that an upper trough
position developing just to the northwest of the islands will act
to veer island trades. Some increase in moisture may increase
shower coverage, but the deepest moisture plume should hold
offshore. At the surface the pressure gradient may weaken to
lessen island flow for much of the week, but trades may return by
late week as high pressure bridges to the north of the state.
