Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
351 AM EDT Sat Sep 6 2025

Valid 00Z Sun 07 Sep 2025 - 00Z Sun 14 Sep 2025

...Eyes on current Hurricane Kiko for possible Hawaii impacts...

An upper low is forecast to drop south toward the state over the
next few days and lead to some increase in moisture/showers with
induction of weak surface troughing. Guidance is quite well
clustered for this scenario, bolstering forecast confidence.

However, hazardous weather interest is increasingly turning to
Kiko and its approach northwestward toward the state into next
week with a forecast track just to the north of the Big Island
Tuesday/Wednesday when Kiko is forecast to weaken to a tropical
storm. Please continue to follow the NHC/CPHC forecast track of
the system for the most updated information. Generally, Kiko
proximity gives potential to support wind/wave and flash flooding
threats Tuesday and Wednesday given tropical moisture potential.
Guidance overall agrees to show a return to a moderate trade flow
and shower pattern mid-later next week in the wake of Kiko.
