Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
341 AM EDT Tue Aug 19 2025

Valid 00Z Wed 20 Aug 2025 - 00Z Wed 27 Aug 2025

A typical trade wind pattern, moderately breezy at times, will
prevail with upper ridging over Hawaii for the next week. By the
weekend, troughing from the north may begin to drop south towards
the islands, but the associated front should stay well north.
Winds may weaken some and shift more east-southeasterly. The
overall pattern supports a typical summertime pattern over Hawaii
with drier conditions and not much in the way of rainfall except
for typical windward and mauka areas. Guidance shows good
agreement on the overall setup, with some uncertainty in the
strength of the trough to the north or how close it may approach
the islands.
