973 FXHW01 KWNH 260744 PMDHI Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 344 AM EDT Sat Apr 26 2025 Valid 00Z Sun 27 Apr 2025 - 00Z Sun 04 May 2025 Expect winds to become fairly light during the weekend into early next week as a surface trough moves into the state from the west. Meanwhile a sharpening upper trough to the north should ultimately close off a low center that tracks over or just northeast of the main islands around Tuesday-Tuesday night. This improved guidance cluster for the upper low represents the southwestern half of the envelope from 24 hours ago. The combination of these features along with an axis of enhanced moisture will lead to the potential for some locally heavy showers and possibly a little thunder early in the week, with sea/land breeze focus. Guidance is agreeable and consistent in showing a return of moderate to brisk trades with windward/mountain shower focus from midweek onward, as the upper low continues eastward and surface high pressure passes by to the north. In addition rainfall should trend lighter as precipitable water values decline to near or slightly below climatology. Rausch
