Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
250 AM EST Sun Nov 24 2024

Valid 00Z Mon Nov 25 2024 - 00Z Mon Dec 02 2024

Light winds on Sunday are forecast to turn northward (but remain
light) as a weak front comes across Kauai Sunday night and moves
southward Monday-Tuesday as it dissipates. Some weak moisture
convergence along/ahead of the front and slightly moistening PWs
could lead to a band of showers in the western islands Sunday
night per the HREF, but with no widespread heavy amounts. Farther
east, some light showers are possible across eastern parts of the
Big Island.

By Tuesday or Wednesday a weak surface ridge is forecast to set up
north of the state, causing winds to veer toward the
east-northeast. Generally dry conditions are likely to continue,
but any showers that do develop would favor windward and mountain
areas. Moisture should become even more suppressed by
Thursday-Friday as a mid-upper high comes overhead. Trades may
relax again by next weekend, but it remains uncertain to what
extent the trades weaken.
