.DISCUSSION...The northern Mariana Islands, including Maug, are
currently on the eastern edge of the monsoon tail extending from
Tropical Storm Nari (06W), with the heaviest showers and thunderstorms
currently northwest of Maug. Tropical Storm Nari is currently located
near 26N142E and is moving east-northeast but should turn towards
the north over the next 24 hours. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms are expected to continue around Maug today and tonight,
with the greatest potential for gusty winds expected during the day
time hours. As Tropical Storm Nari moves northward, the potential for
showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds will decrease across the
Marianas Monday. Looking towards the middle of the week, a developing
monsoon pater across Palau and western Yap State is expected to shift
north to northwest, bringing the next potential for unsettle weather,
along with an building southwest swell.
