...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST SATURDAY...
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet and dangerous rip
currents expected in the surf zone.

* WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, north-facing reefs of the
Marianas. For the High Rip Risk, north and east-facing reefs.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized
beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
  from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A pulse of northerly swell, in combination
with northeasterly trade swell, has brought hazardous surf to
north-facing reefs and a high risk of rip currents to north and
east-facing reefs. On Thursday, a large long-period northeasterly
swell will enter the region, maintaining these surf hazards through
at least the end of this week. As such, the High Surf Advisory and
High Rip Current Risk Statement were extended to Saturday
afternoon, when surf is expected to fall below hazardous levels.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help.
