...CONFIDENCE IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORM THREAT INCREASING OVER NORTHEAST
GEORGIA..AND THE WESTERN UPSTATE..AND THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH
CAROLINA FOR THIS EVENING...

A squall line of thunderstorms taking shape off to the west will
move toward the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia this
afternoon. With hot temperatures and plenty of instability, this
line should hold together and reach southwest North Carolina by
around 6 pm, extreme northeast Georgia by around 7 pm, and the
western part of the Upstate shortly thereafter. A Severe
Thunderstorm Watch is anticipated for parts of the region.

People with outdoor plans this evening, be on the lookout for
severe thunderstorms coming in from the west. The main threat
looks to be strong and damaging wind gusts. Be especially watchful
if you are going to be out on the lakes or hiking in the
mountains as these storms may come up on your location quickly.
Take action to get in a safe place if warnings are issued.
