...Observed flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in North Carolina...

  French Broad River At Blantyre affecting Henderson and
  Transylvania Counties.

...Observed flooding changed from Minor to Major severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in North Carolina...

  French Broad River Near Fletcher affecting Henderson and Buncombe
  Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

When it is safe to do so, please report flooding or landslides
threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service
Greenville-Spartanburg by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1,
by posting on our Facebook page, or via X using hashtag NWSGSP. Your
message should describe the specific location where impacts occurred
and the depth of flooding observed.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE TOMORROW MORNING...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring.

* WHERE...French Broad River at Blantyre.

* WHEN...Until late tomorrow morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Moderate Flooding continues.  Significant
  flooding of farmland along the French Broad River is ongoing.
  Floodwaters may be impacting some buildings along US 64 north of
  Grove Bridge Rd.
  At 21.0 feet, Moderate Flooding continues. Significant flooding of
  farmland along the French Broad River is ongoing.  Floodwaters are
  inundating River Rd. and Big Willow Rd. and are likely threatening
  other roads in the local area including Grove Bridge Rd., Pleasant
  Grove Rd. and Tally Rd.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 11:00 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 14.5 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet.
  - The French Broad River at Blantyre has exceeded the flood of
    record of 27.1 feet set on July 16, 1916.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 10.3 feet Sunday
    morning.
  - Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring.

* WHERE...French Broad River near Fletcher.

* WHEN...Until early Thursday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Action/Advisory Stage.  The French Broad
  River has exceeded bankfull at the gauge site.  Isolated farmland
  flooding is beginning across the French Broad River Valley from
  Etowah downstream to Avery Creek upstream of the gauge site.
  At 11.5 feet, Action Stage Flooding continues.  Butler Bridge Rd.
  is inundated with up to 6 inches of floodwaters from the French
  Broad River, forcing road closure.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 12:45 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 11.1 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The French Broad River at Fletcher crested
    at a record 30.31 feet on September 27, 2024 at 6:45 PM.  It
    exceeded the previous record of 20.13 feet set on September
    8, 2004 during Hurricane Frances.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 7.7 feet Sunday
    morning.
  - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
