297 FXUS63 KGRB 190731 AFDGRB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Green Bay WI 231 AM CDT Tue Aug 19 2025 Forecast discussion for routine morning forecast issuance .KEY MESSAGES... - Isolated showers are possible today, with showers possible along the lakeshore tonight and Wednesday. The rest of the week will be dry with the next chance for showers and thunderstorms Friday into Friday night. - Temperatures will be around normal for much of the upcoming week, with the potential for well below normal temperatures late in the weekend into early next week. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 230 AM CDT Tue Aug 19 2025 Patchy fog this morning will dissipate shortly after sunrise. Cyclonic flow and weak cold air advection could keep some drizzle or light showers at times across northern Wisconsin for much of the day. A weak mid level shortwave could produce some isolated showers this afternoon during peak heating across the rest of the region. An area of convergence along the lakeshore this evening could produce continued light showers across east-central and northeast Wisconsin. This area of convergence will redevelop late tonight into Wednesday, with light showers possible near the lakeshore. High pressure will then build in across the region Wednesday night, keeping the region dry through Thursday night. A cold front will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms to the region Friday and Friday night. High pressure building in behind the departing cold front will bring another dry period to the region next weekend into early next week. Temperatures will be around normal for this time of year through much of the upcoming week, with the possibility of well below normal temperatures (10 degrees below normal) on the back end of the weekend and into early next week. && .AVIATION...for 06Z TAF Issuance Issued at 1017 PM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025 Showers will slowly pull out of far NE WI by TAF issuance. There is a small chance of showers tomorrow afternoon, but will not mention in the TAFs at this point. IFR/LIFR ceilings prevailed regionwide late this evening, and these will continue to gradually lower to LIFR (and perhaps VLIFR at RHI) overnight. Abundant moisture from recent rainfall, the arrival of high pressure, and light winds will result in widespread fog development away from Lake Michigan. Vsbys could drop as low as LIFR/VLIFR in NC/C WI, but should be mostly in the MVFR/IFR range near lake Michigan and the Fox Valley. Conditions will steadily improve Tuesday morning, with most locations returning to VFR by early to mid afternoon. Low stratus and patchy fog may return to northern WI toward the end of the TAF period. && .GRB WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ DISCUSSION.....Kurimski AVIATION.......Kieckbusch
