...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN YUMA AND NORTHEASTERN
KIT CARSON COUNTIES THROUGH 630 PM MDT...
At 555 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms 11 miles southwest of Bonny Reservoir, moving northeast
at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southern Yuma and
northeastern Kit Carson Counties, including the following
locations... Joes, Hale, and Kirk.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 431 and 450.
Highway 385 between mile markers 186 and 217.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
This thunderstorm is producing minor accumulations of hail, which
will make driving hazardous, similar to snow or ice. If you must
travel, be aware of rapidly changing road conditions.
