...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1935, a dust storm extended from the eastern plains of Colorado to
Hays, Kansas. The blowing dust arrived in Goodland, Kansas, around
7:30 PM in the evening and lasted most of the night. It covered houses
and businesses with fine dirt.

In 1977, a dust storm moved across Cheyenne County, Colorado.
Unofficial reports of 90 mph wind gusts blew during the night. Dirt drifted
into ripples over yards, and fence rows were filled with dirt. Many homes
were also filled with dirt as the dust sifted through crevices in doors and
window sills.
