.DISCUSSION...
Breezy to gusty west-northwest winds are forecast to develop this
afternoon gusting generally 20-35 mph across most of the area; with
the exception of Colorado fire zone 252 and Nebraska fire zone 079
where gusts of 40 to potentially 50 mph can occur. Humidity values
are forecast to be in the low to mid teens as temperatures warm into
the mid to upper 60s. This will result in some heightened fire
threat potentially locally flirting with elevated conditions. The
lower humidities are forecas along and south of Interstate 70 where
winds will be lower.
Be aware of a cold front moving through early this evening that will
shift winds to the north and bringing a period of sustained winds of
25-35 mph and gusts of 40-50 mph. Mild temperatures are forecast to
continue through Thursday with Thursday highs in the 60s to 70s
resulting in lower humidity values but not seeing a signal for wind
at this time.
