.DISCUSSION...
**750am MT Update: quicker clearing has been noted on satellite
currently and newest data has come in a little warmer due to this
resulting in lower humidity values across the area in the low to
upper teens with the highest further east you go. The wind is the
biggest uncertainty with gust potential and duration. Have increased
winds some as mixing may be a bit deeper than what guidance suggests
leading to the potential for some 25-30 mph gusts to mix down
especially across western portions of Colorado fire zones 252, 253
and 254 starting around 10am MT where some locally critical fire
weather conditions may develop.
Today: The relative greatest potential for sporadic 15-25 mph NW
wind gusts this afternoon appears to be in far N and NE portions of
the area (mainly southwest Nebraska), where minimum RH readings are
anticipated to bottom-out at 20-30%. The driest overall conditions
(minimum RH`s around 15-20%) will be in southwest portions of the
area (e.g. Kit Carson-Cheyenne CO and Wallace-Greeley-Wichita KS)..
where winds are expected to be light/variable this afternoon. No
appreciable fire weather concerns in the Goodland CWA.
Monday: Westerly winds may reach 15-20 mph along/south of Hwy 96
(southern Greeley/Wichita counties) for a few hours late Monday
afternoon (~20-22Z), when and where minimum RH readings are expected
to bottom-out around 20-25%. North of Hwy 96, winds will remain light
and minimum RH readings are expected to range from 20-35% (highest
RH`s along/north of I-70 and east of Hwy 83). No appreciable fire
weather concerns in the Goodland CWA. From a broader perspective or
big-picture standpoint, the warmest temperatures, breeziest winds
and relative greatest fire weather concern will be south of the
Goodland CWA, over far southwest KS and the TX-OK Panhandles.
