FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE Goodland KS
255 AM MDT Wed Mar 12 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 9 PM MDT THURSDAY...
...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 10 PM CDT THURSDAY...

.DISCUSSION...

Today, minimum relative humidity will fall to around 15-20 percent this
afternoon. Surface winds during this time will generally be from the
north to northeast at 5 to 15 mph, highest across far eastern Colorado.
Critical fire weather conditions are not expected.

Thursday, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the entire forecast area
due to southerly winds gusting up to 40 mph and minimum relative humidity
as low as 12 percent. All outdoor burning should be avoided.

On Friday, we continue to expect widespread rainfall across the area with
amounts ranging from a few hundredths of an inch up to perhaps two tenths
of an inch, lowest amounts generally south of Interstate 70. Strong
northwest winds are expected during the day with gusts in the 30 to 60
mph range, highest generally along and west of Highway 27.

Saturday...although it looks windy with northwest winds gusting to
45 mph and minimum relative humidity in the upper teens to middle twenty
percent range, the expected rainfall Friday through Friday night should
produce a wetting rain, making fuels not as receptive to rapid fire
growth potential.

Sunday, near critical fire weather conditions are possible, mainly west
of Highway 25 due to relative humidity as low as 17 percent and
northwest winds gusting 20 to 30 mph.

Monday, we continue have a threat for near critical fire weather conditions
along and west of Highway 27 due to southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph
and relative humidity as low as 10 percent.

Tuesday...near critical fire weather conditions are possible generally
south of Interstate 70 due to relative humidity as low as 17 percent
and northerly winds gusting up to 35 mph.
