.DISCUSSION...
Strong winds of 45 to locally 60 mph are ongoing across the area.
Have a Special Weather Statement for heightened fire weather
conditions through 7pm MT or 8pm CT issued for most of the area with
the exceptions of fire zones 004 and 016 in northwest Kansas as
humidity values continue to remain as forecast roughly in the 17-22%
range. Other than the wind remain aware for blowing dust potential
across the area as some visibility reductions near dust source
regions have fallen around 1 mile at times. Continuing to monitor for
some isolated dry lighting across eastern Colorado (zones 252, 253
and 254) late this afternoon and early evening. With these storms
some additional dust is possible along outflows along with the potential
for wind gusts around 65 mph as well. A cold front with a more
pronounced wind shift is forecast to move through this evening with a
gradual weakening trend overnight.
Breezy winds, but nowhere near as breezy as today are forecast as
northerly winds gust around 25 mph Sunday. Most of the area is
forecast to remain above 20% humidity helping to minimize any
additional fire weather concerns. Fire concerns will then
significantly lower to start the week with as a cooler air mass
moves into the area.
