.DISCUSSION...
Current southeasterly winds are forecast to shift more so to the
south for the day before shifting back to the southeast again
overnight. Winds are forecast to increase mid morning to around 15
mph sustained with the potential for gusts up to 30 mph during the
afternoon, with the exception being Kansas fire zones 4, 16 and 29
for the wind gust potential. Humidity is again forecast to remain
above 25% helping keep fire weather conditions low.
Thursday winds decrease to around 10-20 mph some but warm
temperatures continue as humidity values remain above 20%. There is
a 5-10% chance of some isolated showers and storms Thursday afternoon
across NW Kansas. Lighting is the main threat with the storms. If
any storms can form closer to the Kansas/Colorado line then dry
lightning could become a concern.
Hotter temperatures this weekend, most notably Sunday, are currently
forecast to drop humidity down in the upper teens to low 20s across
Colorado fire zones 252, 253 and 254. Will need to watch for some
elevated to briefly critical concerns as winds are forecast to gust
up to 25 mph.
