FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE Goodland KS
251 PM MDT Sat Jun 28 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Lightning from developing thunderstorms may spark grass fires for
counties on either side of the CO border. Otherwise, strong, erratic
winds from these thunderstorms will cause erratic behavior for any
fires that are started today.

Sunday will be more active for storms than today as a weak cold front
moves through. Any change in wind direction should be somewhat
gradual during the morning as the front moves through from the north.
There look to be three areas of interest, north of Highway 36 and
south of Highway 40 (along the weak frontal boundary) for the
afternoon, and a developing line over East Central CO during the
evening. As with today, winds from any thunderstorms will cause
erratic behavior for any fires that are ongoing.
