For the Heat Advisory into Monday, afternoon and early evening heat index values as high as 100 to 110 degrees. * WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central, east central, and south central Nebraska. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 9 PM CDT this evening. For the Heat Advisory, from 9 PM this evening to 10 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Low temperatures on Sunday and Monday mornings will provide only limited relief from the heat, dropping no lower than the mid to upper 70s in most of the area. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside.
