The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Jewell County in north central Kansas...
  Northwestern Mitchell County in north central Kansas...

* Until noon CDT.

* At 757 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Radar estimates that between 3
  and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts
  around 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
  ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include...
  Cawker City and Glen Elder.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
Oak Creek, Mill Creek, Walnut Creek, West Limestone Creek, Little
Walnut Creek, Granite Creek, Porcupine Creek, Turkey Creek, Carr
Creek, Salt Creek, Little Oak Creek, Antelope Creek, and Limestone
Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
