The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Merrick County in central Nebraska...
  Southeastern Nance County in central Nebraska...
  Northwestern Polk County in east central Nebraska...
  Northeastern Hamilton County in south central Nebraska...

* Until 530 AM CDT.

* At 1204 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
  2 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen in the last 6 to 12
  hours, and additional amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible over
  the next several hours. Flash flooding is likely already occurring
  in parts of the Warning area.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that could experience flash flooding include...
  Central City, Genoa, Clarks, Silver Creek, Chapman and Archer.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
