.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- A warming trend is expected with temperatures peaking on
  Wednesday.

- A strong cold front will move through the region on Thursday,
for cooler temperatures until the weekend.

- Chances for thunderstorms are minimal for the remainder of the
  week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Northwest flow will begin to flatten out as a trough drops into
western Canada. This will pull warmer air into the region, with
temperatures peaking on Wednesday just ahead of the trough
crossing the Rockies. Surface low spins up over southern Alberta
with the upper trough, and will push a cold front into Montana
Thursday morning.

While a few showers or thunderstorms are not out of the question
with this next system, most of the moisture and energy will be
over the Canadian prairies, closer to the low pressure.

A zonal flow Thursday and Friday will keep the hot airmass to our
south. By the weekend, southwest flow and ridging along the
northern Rockies will increase temperatures could increase
thunderstorm chances.
