KEY MESSAGES: - Temperatures slowly warm through the week with occasional isolated thunderstorms. - Any receptive fuels have potential for elevated fire weather concerns this weekend. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An upper trough over central Canada and the northern Plains will keep northwest flow into eastern Montana through much of the week. Weak shortwaves will be moving through the flow, producing isolated convective showers and slowly shifting the trough eastwards. Forcing and moisture is limited for this time of year, so expecting much of this to not reach the surface while looking more scattered on radar. With the eastward movement of the trough, heat building into the Great Basin will spread northward, bringing slightly above normal temperatures into Montana. By the end of the week, an upper ridge will be in place over the west with a stacked low pushing through Manitoba. Tightening gradient between the high and low could bring stronger winds into eastern Montana. With warmer and drier conditions also expected, fire weather concerns may be elevated for the weekend depending on timing and strength of frontal boundaries. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Beyond regular minor deviations in the short term, followed the base forecast. Confidence is high for precipitation development through Thursday with no widespread measurable amounts. There is moderate confidence in timing and extent of stronger winds from frontal passages this weekend. && .AVIATION...
