078 FXUS65 KGGW 031806 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 1206 PM MDT Thu Sep 3 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Warm and dry weather is expected into Saturday. Warmest temperatures are expected Friday with highs in the 90s. - Sunday onward expect temperatures trending downward with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms in the early work week. && .DISCUSSION... WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Temperatures will remain warm through Friday with the continued southwest flow into Montana and ridge over the northern plains. Highs may reach the upper 90s in the southeast on Friday which lend to elevated Fire Weather concerns if wind gust can ramp up and then overlap with low RH zones. Currently, there seems to be a mis-match between areas of low RH in the SW and areas of strong wind gusts in the far northeast which are precluding Red Flag conditions. Early next week as the upper ridge tilts westward and the west coast trough closes off, another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected across the region. This is the third day for a strong precipitation signal from Sunday night into Tuesday. While these totals could still reduce in further forecasts, currently a half to 1 inch is being teased at most locations. The timing of this event has also backed up about 12 hours from previous forecasts pressing from Sunday into Monday to now Sunday night into Tuesday and a drying trend is beginning to form in the far southeast over the Yellowstone valley. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: No significant deviations from NBM were made. Confidence is HIGH through Saturday. Confidence drops to MODERATE Sunday through Tuesday. && .AVIATION...
