.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- High Wind Warning in place from 9AM to 9PM today for Sheridan
County. Counties southwest of this are not expected to exceed 40
mph sustained, but a Lake Wind Advisory is also in effect for
  Fort Peck Lake.

- Below normal temperatures are expected into Saturday with some
places possibly experiencing a frost Saturday morning.

- A warm-up is expected starting this weekend.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Northerly flow continues over the region with ridge over the west
coast and deep trough to the east. A strong shortwave and front
will drop into the region on today. Tighter pressure gradient
with stacked low over southern Manitoba will bring stronger winds
into northeast Montana. The orientation of the low suggest a
mostly dry front, but with cooler temperatures. This front should
push any remaining smoke out of the area.

The remainder of the forecast period has high pressure moving out
of the northern Plains by the end of the week, and an upper ridge
pushing back across the northern Rockies, but less amplified by
next week. However temperatures are expected to be about 5 to 10
degrees above normal.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Mainly stayed with NBM but blended the NBM90 into the winds for
today.
