932 FXUS65 KGGW 040946 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 346 AM MDT Thu Sep 4 2025 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - High Wind Warning in place from 9AM to 9PM today for Sheridan County. Counties southwest of this are not expected to exceed 40 mph sustained, but a Lake Wind Advisory is also in effect for Fort Peck Lake. - Below normal temperatures are expected into Saturday with some places possibly experiencing a frost Saturday morning. - A warm-up is expected starting this weekend. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Northerly flow continues over the region with ridge over the west coast and deep trough to the east. A strong shortwave and front will drop into the region on today. Tighter pressure gradient with stacked low over southern Manitoba will bring stronger winds into northeast Montana. The orientation of the low suggest a mostly dry front, but with cooler temperatures. This front should push any remaining smoke out of the area. The remainder of the forecast period has high pressure moving out of the northern Plains by the end of the week, and an upper ridge pushing back across the northern Rockies, but less amplified by next week. However temperatures are expected to be about 5 to 10 degrees above normal. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Mainly stayed with NBM but blended the NBM90 into the winds for today. && .AVIATION... VFR. The hazy conditions may briefly worsen this morning but strong NW winds should quickly disperse it by afternoon.
