.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Below normal temperatures with a frost/freeze expected
overnight tonight through early Saturday morning.

- A high pressure ridge brings a return to summer-like conditions
  by early next week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

The large, strong low pressure system which had pushed strong and
gusty winds through our area yesterday is now moving over the
Great Lakes region, and the last vestiges of departing low level
clouds are just clearing our border with North Dakota.

An warm upper level ridge of high pressure over the Pacific NW is
expected to flatten a bit while it drifts eastward into Montana
by early next week. This will allow for mainly clear skies, lower
humidity, and high temperatures rebounding into the mid to upper
80s from Sunday into midweek.

After which, the next low pressure system will push into the
Pacific NW and orient some SW flow aloft approaching NE Montana as
early as Wednesday evening. This will direct more Pacific moisture
and some instability into our region and set the stage for a
return to scattered thunderstorms later next week.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Stayed close to the base forecast besides adding some detail to
short term winds and temperature spread. There is high confidence
in the forecast through Tuesday, then more average confidence
thereafter for the extent of rain chances.
