.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

1) Another round of precipitation will pass through the region
tonight with accumulating snow. A little freezing rain may mix in
at times along the southern edge of the precipitation. Look for up
to an inch of new snow accumulations and a light glaze of ice.

2) Northwest winds will range from 15 to 25 mph, gusting to 35 mph
at times through Sunday. This may present blowing snow concerns.

3) Expect a marked dive in temperatures on Sunday night with lows
in the single digits above and below zero. Below normal
temperatures will persist through next week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

A final push of snow will push through the region this evening in
the form of snow for the northern tier zones and a wintry mix
along the southern tier. Look for up to an inch of new snowfall
accumulations and a light glaze of ice with any freezing rain.

Given the potential for patchy blowing snow through Sunday with
northwest winds 15 to 25 mph, gusting to 35 mph, will leave Winter
Weather Advisory in effect as is for now.

Look for markedly colder temperatures on Sunday night as the
system pushes away and winds diminish. Below normal temperatures
will continue much of next week with a large upper level trough
dominating the western CONUS.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

High confidence exists on additional snowfall and mixed
precipitation this evening but lower confidence exists on extent
of patchy blowing snow into Sunday. Do not yet know how the snow
will react to the expected gusty wind range given some settling.
Blended in NBM90 for wind and added patchy blowing snow as
deviations from baseline for this cycle, otherwise kept the
forecast in line with NBM.
