Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Glasgow MT
231 PM MDT Tue Jul 29 2025

.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:

1) Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected this
evening with some severe potential.

2) Upper level ridging will remain over the region though
fluctuate some in position over the next several days. The bottom
line: expect thunderstorm chances to continue on and off along
near seasonable temperatures.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Upper ridging will continue over the region this week, though
fluctuate in position. Currently, NE Montana sits on the front
quadrant of the ridge with NW upper flow. Ample low level
moisture, CAPE/Shear are more than supportive of this evening
convection already firing up west of Jordan.

Ridging late week will shift east allowing southwest upper flow to
return with more widespread thunderstorm chances making a return.
Temperatures will remain near normal, within a few degrees.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

NBM was used for this forecast cycle which captured the overall
pattern well. Confidence is high that temperatures will remain
near within a few degrees of normal each day while thunderstorm
chances continue. The greatest coverage for thunderstorms will be
late in the week.
