Grass Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Fort Worth TX
201 AM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026

...ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON ALONG AND WEST OF I-35...

Extremely hot weather conditions, along with afternoon relative
humidity between 15-20% will increase the potential for fire
starts within the aforementioned area. Additionally, slightly
stronger winds are expected today compared to previous days, with
winds out of the southwest up to 15 mph and gusts closer to 20
mph. With the addition of the wind, fire spread will be a concern
this afternoon. Relative humidity will rise above 30% closer to
midnight, reducing the overall threat for additional fire growth.

Extreme care is urged during all outside activities where there
is a potential for grass fires to get started. Avoid outside
burning and welding. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside.
Report wildfires to the nearest fire department or law
enforcement office quickly.
